Get Bigger With Just Cheap Exercise Equipment
So you want to get into body building however you do not have the funds for a gym membership nor to purchase those expensive home equipment. Do not let this be a hurdle for you since there are a lot of cheap exercise equipment you can get if you are resourceful enough. In fact, some exercises do not need any equipment at all so do not be discouraged. People with gym membership only have a slight advantage over you, which can be surpassed easily if you have the proper outlook and determination.
Craig’s List and Ebay
First of all, a lot of people are actually selling used equipment through the internet right now and it’s best for you to check it out. You might have to meet with a lot of them and sometimes just rely on plain luck to actually find a good catch. So be patient with this approach, however always beware of scammers. When dealing with people, try to see the feedback of other people first on their previous transactions. You can get an idea whether this individual is reliable or not. Do not stop here however. Always try to meet up with the person first and check the equipment. If you are just purchasing old weights and dumbbells for example then you are more or less quite safe but for mechanical or electronic equipment like a treadmill, it’s best to see the product up-close before doing any transaction.
Basic Exercises
Believe it or not, you can actually get a full body workout without the help of any real weights. You can improvise. The top three exercise for bulking, namely Bench Press, Squats, and Deadlifts can be simulated without the equipment entirely. For the bench press, push-ups are somewhat equivalent. You can do various kinds of push-ups like normal, wide push-ups, diamond push-ups, elevated push-ups, hop push-ups and many more. Once you get quite stronger, then you can ask someone to sit on your back or just place a heavy book to put greater pressure on you.
If you have those big containers of water in your house, something like 5 gallons, then you can do squats as well. Just carry one of these at first then start squatting like you would with a bar. If you get a bit stronger and more comfortable already then start carrying two of these. Honestly this is quite harder than carrying a barbell at your back so your core muscles are more involved here, giving you a better workout. You could use the same things for deadlifts, but if you could get your hand on some hollow blocks, then this could do as well.
Pull-up Bar
We all know that doing pull-ups or chin-ups give you that upper body form that most people want and for this, you do not even need to spend a single penny. I’m sure you can find some place in your house that is sturdy enough such that you can hang from it and do some pull-ups. However if for some unfortunate reason you really can’t find any, you can purchase one of those pull-up bars that cost around $20 in any of your sports stores. They just hang in your doorway and some models actually do not need any installation at all. This I think is one of your best investments since there is nothing really that could replace doing regular pull-ups.
More importantly, most people stop at the gym and think that muscle building is all about how long you are in there. Well this is one I would like to correct. Another important thing if you are considering building muscle is the food that you eat. It’s time to stay away from fatty foods and start living a healthy life. Start looking at the calorie and nutrient breakdown of the food you eat and try to cut down on fat and start eating more protein. You will be surprised at how much this will affect your muscle growth.
Again as I have said above, no money in the world could get you to have a well-tone physique if you are not determined enough to deal with the pain of weight lifting. This is not an easy thing to get into so comparing someone who own a gym membership, even has a complete home gym but always slacks around and is not determined enough will actually see less gains than one who just does push-ups and pull-ups all day using cheap exercise equipment but is really focused on his goals.
